Caring for your print
Print Matters supplies archival, museum-grade, exhibition prints, which should be treated with care.
Both our colour and monochrome prints are very delicate and can easily be damaged, so for this reason, we strongly advise that you do not unpack the print, but instead take it directly to your framer, who should be expert in safely handling prints of this standard.
The framer will likely provide several options for frame moulding, mounting and glazing. We recommend that you specify ultraviolet-protective glazing, which will prevent any damage from light, and non-reflective glazing, if budget allows, as this will significantly increase your enjoyment of the print.
If a framed print is shipped to someone, it should be fitted with ultraviolet-protective shatterproof plexiglass, which prevent damage to the print. This can also be specified as low reflection.
Even with ultraviolet-protective glazing in a frame, we advise against placing artworks in areas that receive direct sunlight.
To clean the glazing, we recommend using an anti-static microfibre cloth with a high quality liquid cleaner, such as HG Glass Cleaner, which is streak free.
Treated correctly, these archival prints will remain stable for hundreds of years.
Shipping of prints
Print Matters exhibition prints will usually be shipped within 14 working days of the order being placed. We will notify directly if a print of a particular image ordered may take longer for any reason. These prints will be shipped flat in boxes specially designed for the purpose and should not be rolled, as this risks causing damage. The exhibition prints come complete with a label for the reverse of the frame that details the artist’s name, image title, edition number, and other key details.
Our fine art posters are supplied carefully rolled inside sturdy cardboard tubes and are sized to fit off-the-shelf, pre-made frames.
